What are your 2011 Social Networking Predictions?

Who could have thought that Face book which has grown in a spree, twitter, YouTube could be this big last one year?
Are there any possibilities that there is another social network site that will conquer the current King of social media the Face book? That’s the question many internet geeks are asking themselves this year. I want to involve you in asking and answering this question.
What will happen to most social network like MySpace, YouTube, mebo, Orkut and many other? There have been speculations that the Face book boss may announce its IPO.  Do you think that will happen soon?
Twitter had a bad 2010. Following its several attack by hackers. Also not all people believe that twitter is a fully social networking site. For me I believe it’s a social networking site. Do you think it is? How can you predict your followers in twitter in 2011? This will be determined by its growth not forgetting twitter is undergoing management change. Executives are stepping down and others are coming for their positions. It has been predicted that twitter will experience a very boring 2011 despite the fact that it’s launching its ads site platform this year.
“We’re in a unique time right now because of the power of the cell phone with the two cameras, both the front and the back, and the broadband networks that allow photos to be shared simply and consumed through social networks in realtime.” ~Brian Pokorny, Dailybooth CEO
These were remarks made by Brian prediction the trend of the Mobile in the coming years. While social photography is nothing new (Flickr  and Face book dominate), mobile photography is just beginning to blossom, thanks to apps like PicPlz, and Dailybooth . Other services like Tumblr , Gowalla , Posterous  and most recent Foursquare are only pushing the trend further. Despite all the above face book is dominating in photo sharing according to my Internet knowledge!

IS Your ISP tracking everything you do?

The Extreme Searcher's Internet Handbook: A Guide for the Serious Searcher; Third EditionI am a Kenyan and we have many ISPs one of which I have worked with as an System Engineer. The questions that should bother the corporate companies and individual since all of us has to get online through an Internet Service Provider is whether the ISP is tracking everything you do online?
This may not be something most people are thinking about, but for those constantly worried about digital privacy, it is a  must concern, since, if true, everyone would be subject to tracking because we almost all have to get online through an Internet service provider as I have already stated.
Your ISP "is your path way to the worldwide computer network known as the Internet,"  Every page request you make and every e-mail you send must travel through your ISP's routers first. It would seem, therefore, that your ISP has the power to scan and save every piece of data that flows through its system."
But before you get worried, "The truth is that it does have the power”. Fortunately there may be some hindrances’ in terms of organizing every bit of information that passes though its routers. This calls for more investment in labor and infrastructure. So most probably in my view, they doesn’t hold all the data but they hold some data for a moment of which they may interfere with you privacy.
For Example of details that are held for some moments is emails. If your mail server is offline the ISP servers holds the emails until the your mail comes online.
Do you think Your ISP track what you are doing online?

Skype launches Free Video Chat App for iPhone to greet New Year celebrations

Skype launches free video chat app on your iPhone, iPod and iPad to catch on the 2011 new year celebration. You can talk face to face using your iPhone. There’s no other time than smartphone timely smartphone to come through where Apple doesn't provide: While the iPhone's own FaceTime only works on WiFi, Skype today releases an updated app that will let iPhone users video chat on both WiFi and AT&T's 3G network.
The app will also allow iPad and iPod Touch users to receive video calls, with those using the latest iPod Touch being able to make video calls as well (Skype says that video calls can be made with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4th generation with i0S 4.0 or above, and received on the iPod touch 3rd generation and iPad). The only catch is that video calls will have to be with other Skype users, whether on their Apple devices and using the new app, or those using Skype on their computers. It's probably a best thing happened when Skype was down last week and came out strong and makes their users happy this New Year. The free app is available for download now.

Reflection Time

About this time every year, I begin to reflect on the past year and have a little career discussion with myself, , , been doing this for as long as I can remember. Comments about me getting older and forgetful will not be necessary.
The question I ask myself is simple,  What bugged me often in 2010?
Here are some things that really bug me, so let’s fix these so they don’t happen in 2011:
  1. STOP SCREAMING. As tempted as you are, keep your fingers off the CAPS LOCK.
  2. If I unsubscribe from your email, don’t send a confirmation email to me.
  3. Replace the picture of the egg with a real picture of you on Twitter. It’s been 3 months and 2 Tweets already.
  4. Remove poking, Facebook… it’s just plain creepy.
  5. Stop talking about how many pageviews you’re getting. Business is measured in dollars and cents. If you’re not getting paying customers, your strategy is broken.
  6. Quit judging companies by their CEO in ripped jeans and a cowboy hat, cool office space, user growth, or VC money… we already did that in the 90′s and it didn’t work. Start judging companies by how soon users will jump ship when the next cool guy in ripped jeans and a cowboy hat comes along.
  7. What do have as a resolution?

TechSoft Solutions: Windows be will an Operating system of the past: Midori is coming

TechSoft Solutions: Windows be will an Operating system of the past: Midori is coming

Windows will be an Operating system of the past: Midori is coming

WINDOWS is a name that has ruled the whole computer world since its first launch in November 1985 two years after i was born. Since then it is like a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
With many advanced versions of Windows available today such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and it is the most used operating system in the world.

Yes, MICROSOFT is working on a new generation of operating systems called Cloud-Based Operating System and rumors are there that MIDORI will be their first such operating system, which will replace Windows fully from computer map. How will you adapt to that?..I know you are using a windows application if not the operating system.

What will be the difference?
MIDORI is an offshoot of Microsoft Research's Singularity operating system. In this the tools and libraries are completely managed code. MIDORI will be designed to run directly on native hardware (x86, x64 and ARM), will be hosted on the Windows Hyper-V hypervisor, or even be hosted by a Windows process.

MIDORI can be also seen as MICROSOFT'S answer those competitors who are applying "Virtualization" as a mean to solving issues within contemporary computing.

The main idea behind MIDORI is to develop a lightweight portable OS which can be mated easily to lots of various applications.

Importance of MIDORI
For knowing the importance of MIDORI you have to think about, how an operating system is loaded on a computer. Actually operating system is loaded onto a hard disk physically located on that machine. In this way, the operating system is tied very tightly to that hardware. As Windows is dependent on hardware, it might face opposition from contemporary ways of working because people are extremely mobile in using different devices in order get diverse information.

Due to this trend installing different applications on a single computer may led to different compatibility issues whenever the machine require updating. The new operating system will solve these problems by the concept of Virtualizing. This will solve problems such as widespread security vulnerabilities, unexpected interactions among different applications, failures caused by errant extensions, plug-ins, and drivers and many more.

From Senior Vice President(Eric Rudder)
The importance of this project for MICROSOFT can be understood by the fact that company choose Eric Rudder , former head of Microsoft's server and tools business and a key member of Chairman Bill Gates' faction of the company, to handle it.

Do we know when it be Launched?
Just Wait and See. Microsoft has not declared any such date about launching of MIDORI, but there are rumors that this project is in incubation phase.

4G Technology

Fourth Generation (4G) mobiles
4G also called as Fourth-Generation Communications System, is a term used to describe the next step in wireless communications. A 4G system can provide a comprehensive IP solution where voice, data and streamed multimedia can be provided to users on an "Anytime, Anywhere" basis. The data transfer rates are also much higher than previous generations.
The main objectives of 4G are:
1)4G will be a fully IP-based integrated system.
2)This will be capable of providing 100 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s speeds both indoors and outdoors.
3)It can provide premium quality and high security.
4)4G offer all types of services at an affordable cost.

4G is developed to provide high quality of service (QoS) and rate requirements set by forthcoming applications such as wireless broadband access, Multimedia Messaging, Video Chat, Mobile TV, High definition TV content, DVB, minimal service like voice and data, and other streaming services.

4G technology allow high-quality smooth video transmission. It will enable fast downloading of full-length songs or music pieces in real time.
The business and popularity of 4Gmobiles is predicted to be very vast. On an average, by 2009, this 4Gmobile market will be over $400B and it will dominate the wireless communications, and its converged system will replace most conventional wireless infrastructure.

Data Rates For 4G:
The downloading speed for mobile Internet connections is from 9.6 kbit/s for 2G cellular at present. However, in actual use the data rates are usually slower, especially in crowded areas, or when there is congestion in network.
4G mobile data transmission rates are planned to be up to 20 megabits per second which means that it will be about 10-20 times faster than standard ASDL services.
In terms of connection seeds, 4G will be about 200 times faster than present 2G mobile data rates, and about 10 times faster than 3G broadband mobile. 3G data rates are currently 2Mbit/sec, which is very fast compared to 2G's 9.6Kbit/sec.

Leverage your marketing efforts with social networking

In terming it social networking for your business I am referring to the process of synchronizing your business website to the social web. This is done by creating accounts on several social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google, yahoo and many other. By adding your business to these different social networking platforms you are allowing visitors to share and provide feedback about your business.
Going viral with good feedback!
By allowing people to provide feedback or share your business with others in their social environment, your are putting yourself into the living, and every changing web atmosphere. By doing this you are giving your business the opportunity to go viral. When I say viral I donot mean that your business is going to get millions of visitors like the monkey smelling his own butt. When I say viral, I mean your audience (visitors or previous clients) will speak to others about you! They will have real conversation about you!
Google Results
Web creation like everything else takes work. The real benefit of the sharing is that when a visitor shares your website it creates a back link to your website. These back links are what will increase your page rank on Google. In turn your pagerank increasing is what tells Google that the information you are providing is accurate and true. If Google believes that your information is accurate and true it will place your website orarticle higher in their search results. This obviously is good because you will have a better chance of getting good traffic.

Web Creation that doesn't smell like a fish

Entity Representation

If your website doesn't resemble your entity the way you want it to, it's probably a good idea to take the website down until it does. It's better to have no representation than bad representation.
Think of your website as the first person that greets your target audience. If this person is the caliber of person you would want representing your company in your stead, you're on the right path. If this person doesn't answer questions, looks sloppy, and is surrounded by a bad odor, it's probably time to “Let them Go”.

Design Portrayal

The color combinations and layout of the information on your website says volumes about your entity.
Feminine colors go well with feminine entities, and masculine colors go well with masculine entities. If your target audience is a bunch of soccer moms and you're selling flower arrangements, it's probably not a good idea to have a blood red background with black menus. It might be a good idea to have a white background with pink or purple menus. The masculine colors may go well with a website about catch fighting on the other hand.

Information Architecture

Another important factor to an entity representation (a website) is that the information is structured in a way that is what your audience wants to hear/see. First, capture your audience, then give your message

Is Your ISP Throttling Your Bandwidth?

In a recent PC Magazine article, writer Jeremy Kaplain did a fantastic job of exposing the true Internet access speeds of the large consumer providers.
He did this by creating a speed test that measured the throughput of continuous access to popular Web sites like Google, Expedia, and many others. Until this report was published, the common metric for comparing ISPs was through the use of the numerous Internet speed test sites available online.

The problem with this validation method was that it could not simulate real speeds encountered when doing typical Web surfing and downloading operations. Plus, ISPs can tamper with the results of speed tests — more on this later.
When I saw the results of PC Magazine’s testing, I was a bit relieved to see that the actual speeds of large providers was somewhere between 150 Kbit/s and 200 Kbit/s. This is a far cry from the two, three or even four megabit download speeds frequently hyped in ISP marketing literature.

Search Engine Optimzation

With nearly 14 billion online searches every month and social media sites that rival populations of large countries, there’s unlimited opportunity. But to take advantage of that opportunity, it is vital to rank high in the search engines, to leverage social media and pay per click advertising, and to make sure your website turns visitors into leads and sales. If you don’t understand how to successfully apply these strategies, then your customers will go to your competitors instead.
